Thank you for booking
your FIRST LESSON!

Congratulations and thank you for taking the exciting first step towards unleashing your creative potential! Whether you're diving into acting, exploring your vocal talents, or honing your performance skills, I'm thrilled to have you with us.

Starting now means you’re setting the stage for personal growth, confidence, and mastery in your craft. Every moment you invest in learning is a step toward achieving your artistic dreams and discovering new dimensions of your talent. I can’t wait to see you bring your passion to life in our first lesson that will help you reach new heights.

What to prepare:

Our Lesson together is booked! Now, please prepare the following:

1. Prepare a Monologue or Scene for our Lesson

You may bring a monologue or scene that you are most proud of or already working on. If you don't have one, no worries! Use one of the monologues from my personal collection, link below:

DROPBOX OF MONOLOGUES AND SCENES

Monologue practice required for EVERYONE taking lessons with me! Whether you are here to learn voice or acting, practicing your speaking voice is paramount to performance, so I need to hear how you sound.

Your Script Does NOT Have to be Memorized!

However, the more you are off book, the better, so do take the time to look over it at least a couple times

*For Industry Students (those who want a career in TV/Film, Music or Stage Performance)

  • Come in with a memorized monologue!

    • Bring me something you feel proud of and show it off!

  • Don't have a monologue?

    • No worries! Choose one from my dropbox and commit to it.

  • Can't get the monologue memorized before our first lesson?

    • That's ok. I will let it slide for our first lesson, and we will talk about next steps if you decide to continue taking with me.

2. Prepare a SONG to SING Accapella!

This can be anything! From your favorite song on broadway, a top 40 hit, or a lullaby you learned a kid, whatever you enjoy singing. I encourage you to pick a song that shows off your range as well. Actors and Industry Professionals as well. Everyone starts their first lesson singing something they love to sing.

Don't worry about how good you sing for me

Whenever anyone hears "sing" they immediately tighten up (for industry performers as well). But that can be unlearned. As a voice and acting coach, I need to see you at your most honest to hone in on your artistry as a vocalist, which is much harder to teach. So make sure to choose a song that's filled with passion and direction, and in any language. I am looking to see who you are as a performer! How you sound when you "sing" is important information.

*For Industry Students (those who want a career in TV/Film, Music or Stage Performance)

  • Try to come in with a full arc (16-32 bars) memorized!

    • If you think you're an actor who will never be asked to sing, think again. Our industry is filled with opportunities for us in ways we never imagined. Having something at the ready when asked by a casting director or agent will put you leagues in front of the rest who respond either with "I don't sing" or "I'm an Actor bro, not trying to get on broadway".

  • Directors don't need you to be the best, they need to know you can simply do it.

    • For Actors, I am here to help you strengthen your voice as well as your posture and body language. To be able to sing a song showcases your versatility as an actor and your dynamic technique.

  • Can't get the monologue memorized before our first lesson?

    • Once again, that's ok. I will let it slide for our first lesson, and we will talk about next steps if you decide to continue taking with me.

3. Bring a Device to Record our Lesson! (Audio at least)

If you are able to, I highly recommend you record the lesson (audio at least). Relistening to our conversation and you voice is one of my strongest practices for students to rapidly develop their vocal and acting techniques. Developing muscle memory requires consistent practice and a healthy mentality. Facing the fears of how you sound is the first thing we need to dismantle.

"I HATE the way I sound on recordings"

This is you, I'm sure. This is ALL OF US. The way we hear ourselves speak is very different to the way others hear you. It is important to understand this moving forward, so that your Vocal and Acting reflections are in response to what you "physically feel" and what you "hear on your recording". (More on that in our lesson)

  • Don't have a recording device for our first lesson?

    • Once again, that's ok. I will let it slide for our first lesson, and we will talk about next steps if you decide to continue taking with me.

Tips for Virtual Lesson:

  • Try to place your camera as close to eye level as you can, where I can see you, WITHOUT you holding the camera.

    • If you're using your phone, attach it to a tripod. Don't have a tripod? GET ONE! Performance requires a lot of practice and reflection, you will use this tripod PLENTY of times to improve your overall visual and vocal performance.

    • If you're using your Laptop or any other webcam device, make sure to have that eye level as well, and try to attach a separate mic to your device when logging onto Zoom or GChat. The current audio quality for desktop and laptop mics are much lower than phones, so they require support. Reach out to me during our lesson if this is you, I will give you some secret tips on how to get one for free :)

  • Choose a space in your home or office where you can feel comfortable getting a bit loud and goofy!

    • So much of vocal and acting techniques rely on a healthy mentality when developing muscle memory. If you are somewhere that you can't go beyond a whisper, you will never give your body the freedom to go beyond our social limitations. Please Please PLEASE pick a space that is right for you, and ignore all the thoughts that make you feel shy. You are a POWERFUL person, time to start feeling that :)
